Portland Book Festival Panel: “Designing Women”

A discussion of two exciting debut poetry collections. Poūkahangatus is the American debut of acclaimed young poet Tayi Tibble. Poem by poem, Tibble carves out a bold new way of engaging history, of straddling modernity and ancestry, desire and exploitation as a twenty-first-century Indigenous woman. Shelley Wong‘s debut collection, As She Appears (longlisted for the 2022 National Book Award in Poetry), celebrates queer and Asian identity in “shape-shifting poems of becoming and knowing, seeing and being seen” (Electric Lit). Moderated by poet Genevieve DeGuzman.
